The PSI:Biology-Materials Repository (PSI:Biology-MR; psimr.asu.edu) was created as part of PSI-2 in 2006 with the mission to sequence, archive and distribute plasmids created by all of the PSI Centers as part of their structural genomics pipelines. Annotations for each plasmid, including insert sequence, vector information and sequence, and linkouts to experimental results, protocols and additional biological annotations are available through our distribution website DNASU (http://dnasu.org). Through DNASU, researchers can search for and request plasmids from our collection of nearly 200,000 plasmids created by the PSI:Biology consortium, the ORFeome Collaboration and other individual laboratories. In addition to our numerous search features, researchers can browse (http://dnasu.org/DNASU/Browse.do?tab=0) our plasmids by author, species, biological function, or vector and find additional resources (http//dnasu.org/DNASU/Resources/index.jsp) to facilitate their use of plasmids from the PSI:Biology-MR. We also strive to expedite and simplify plasmid requests through its expedited material transfer agreement (EP-MTA) network, where researchers from network institutions can order and receive PSI plasmids without institutional delays. In collaboration with the PSI:Biology Centers, the PSI-MR's repository of expression-ready plasmids along with the expedited process for receiving these plasmids allows the research community to dissect the biological function of proteins whose structures have been identified by the PSI.
