This E-Collection contains reports of scientific advances made during the second (2005-2010) and third (2010-2015) phases of the the 15-year Protein Structure Initiative Project. It also includes reports on work conducted by the broader structural biology community during this period. It consists of articles about research and technical highlights written by the Nature Publishing Group (NPG), and Featured Systems written by David Goodsell (The Scripps Research Institute).

Research Themes - Articles by NPG provide insights about newly discovered structure-function relationships that help us understand how biological systems work. Featured systems by David Goodsell provide detailed portraits of biological molecules solved through the PSI efforts.

Technology Topics - Reviews of novel methods as well as substantial improvements to tried-and-tested techniques are written by NPG to help researchers with their lab work.
